UPDATE 2: Telegram resumes operations in Europe, Middle East, CIS

(rewrites throughout)

MOSCOW, Mar 29 (PRIME) -- Popular messenger Telegram has fixed all connection troubles in Europe, the Middle East and the CIS countries, including Russia, the service said in a Twitter post on Thursday.

“Just in case you missed that, everything is fine since ~40 minutes ago. Telegram is doing well all across Europe, Middle East and the CIS,” the post read.

Telegram’s founder Pavel Durov explained connection issues by power outage at a Telegram server cluster in Europe.

Earlier on Thursday, users from a number of countries, including Italy, Germany, Russia and Ukraine faced troubles in the service’s work.

The Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology, and Mass Media advised companies to localize data in the country to ensure trouble-free operation.

“Russia is among the top countries with the cheapest electricity. Local petrol generators are not inferior to foreign analogues. Localize data on the territory of Russia, ensure flawless operation of your company,” the communications service said on Twitter.
